There was a large entry of cattle at Clogher Mart this week, with more than 1,300 animals coming forward for sale. Prices remain strong for good-quality cattle.

Fat cows sold to £1,936 for a Blue animal weighing 940kg, with other noted prices of £1,722 for an 820kg DAQ animal and £1,664 for an 800kg Limousin cow. Fleshed Friesian cows sold to £1.36/kg.

Bullocks were met with strong demand. Prices peaked at £1,550 for a 750kg animal. Cattle weighing over 700kg sold from £1,435/head to £1,500/head. Cattle weighing 400kg to 500kg sold from £820/head up to £1,095/head.

A good entry of heifers sold to a top price of £1,385 for a 660kg Limousin animal. General trade for fleshed heifers saw prices of £1,250/head up to £1,360/head. Heifers weighing 400kg to 500kg were an excellent trade, selling from £980/head to £1,175/head.
