A very steep hill leads into Main Street and this is understood to have been a factor in the accident, which occurred around 10.30am. The possibility of a brake failure is being investigated.
Local bystanders said the incident was “very dramatic” and that the driver of the tractor, a local farmer, was “very shaken”.
The scene was cleared as of the afternoon and an investigation into the incident by An Garda Síochána is currently under way.
