It was a case of a perfect storm for the Mayo Mule and Greyface ewe lamb sale in Ballinrobe on Saturday. Good grass growth over the last number of weeks, strengthening factory prices along with the group’s ever-growing reputation for breeding top-quality replacements all combined to make the day a success.

Right from the off prices were hot and heavy, with a good number of active buyers around the ring as well as online via the MartBids bidding platform. Trade was maintained and perhaps even strengthened at times throughout the sale. The buoyant trade meant that a 100% clearance was achieved, with an average price of a staggering €155/head.
