Gardaí told the Irish Farmers Journal that they are investigating a deadly attack on sheep in the Aylmer Road area of Newcastle, Co Dublin, between 11.30am and 4.40pm on Saturday.
"A witness said they had seen two dogs killing sheep in a field. We can confirm up to 40 sheep were killed," a garda spokesperson said.
Investigations are ongoing and anyone with any information should contact gardaí in Rathcoole on 01-666 7900.

Word has spread around community groups in the area, with St Finian's GAA club in Newcastle sharing calls online for local residents to report information to the gardaí and to control pet dogs.
