Having previously completed the autumn calf finals in early July at Barryroe Show, these junior calf finals are for calves born later in 2015 and early 2016.
The championships are split into two sections: the senior calf championship is for animals born between 1 December 2015 and 31 January 2016, while the junior calf championship is for calves born on or after 1 February 2016.
Judge on the day was Tom Maloney of the Carroward Simmental Herd, while Dairygold was the sponsor.
Claiming top spot in the senior bull calf championship was Carbery Hitman, bred by Keith Vickery.
This January-2016 born calf is sired by Kilbride Farm Bantry crossed with the homebred dam Carbery Denzie. The Carbery Herd also won the junior heifer calf championship with Carbery Halleberry. Like Hitman, she is sired by Kilbride Farm Bantry and was third place up at Tullamore Show a couple of weeks ago.

The Junior bull calf championship went to Lismoy Hamlet for Gordon Salter. This April-2016 calf has a rich pedigree – he is sired by 45,000gns Bel DHU Capercaille while his mother bloodlines include the renowned Raceview King.

Keith Vickery rounded off a great day by claiming the reserve championship honours with Carbery Gaelann. This Kilbride Farm Bantry calf had earlier won the September bull calf class.
