The Regional Veterinary Lab in Sligo has collected a lot of blood samples and examined a lot of carcases over years. It celebrated its 50th anniversary last week.
Earlier this year farm organisations battled to keep Sligo RVL open.

The staff of the Sligo Regional Veterinary Lab (RVL) were honoured at a civic reception in the town last week. The RVL networks is undergoing a review and the future of the Sligo branch is uncertain. The lab opened in early October 1967 and has been to the forefront of disease control in the country. Guest speaker was former European Commissioner for Agriculture Ray MacSharry.
