Omagh, Co Tyrone-based Strathroy Dairies has collected milk from 38 former Wexford Creameries and one former Dairygold supplier in Co Tipperary since 1 April.
A further 87 dairy farmers in the Republic of Ireland have served three months-notice of their intention to leave their current processor from 1 July, but many may have done this for tactical reasons.
Sixteen of those farmers are understood to be Glanbia milk producers in the south Wicklow/north Wexford area (liquid milk producers), while the balance are former Wexford Creamery suppliers.

Last week, Glanbia Ingredients Ireland Ltd (GIIL) secured Competition Authority approval for its takeover of Wexford Creameries. It is now likely to mount a campaign to retain as many suppliers as possible.
The Irish Farmers Journal also understands that Strathroy representatives have been to Tipperary and Cork in recent weeks, discussing possible supply arrangements with some large-scale operations.
Five Tipperary Co-op suppliers, with a total pool of 5m litres, are reported to be “seriously considering” switching from Tipperary Co-op to the Cunningham Brothers’ operation.
