Straw yields are back across the board this year. Thousands of acres of straw still remain on the ground, which will likely lead to a further decrease in yields.
After a slow start to the season, growers indicated that they intended to store an amount of straw this year in anticipation of a winter shortfall.
However, reports now suggest that enquiries have been increasing over the past week. In some cases however, orders could not be filled.
Prices
Prices of between €15-€20 per 4x4 round bale from the field are being paid depending on location. Much of the remaining straw will now need two to three settled days in a row to dry and will likely require turning.
