The number of Friesian cows on offer continues to be strong, with cow sales in the south now predominantly Friesians.
The trade for these is holding well and where good Friesian cows are coming to the fore with a good cover of flesh, prices of €1.15/kg to €1.30/kg are being paid.
In general, average-quality culls straight from the parlour are selling from their weight to €100 over. However, where thin cows and light Jersey-cross cows are on offer, prices of €50 to €100 under the weight are being recorded.
Well-fleshed young continental cows continue to be a very good trade, with prices of €500 to €700 over.
