Cattle were in demand at Clogher Mart this week, with 1,163 animals brought forward for sale. A good entry of store bullocks was met with sharp demand ending in strong prices paid for quality lots.
Fat bullocks hit a top price of £1,495 for a 660kg Charolais, followed by £1,430 for a 730kg Charolais. General prices ran from £1,300 to £1,420 for cattle weighing 670kg to 740kg.
Mid-weight bullocks weighing 400kg to 500kg sold from £900 to £1,075, while lighter cattle under 400kg sold from £455 to £905.
In the heifer ring, prices peaked at £1,335 for a 630kg Limousin followed by £1,320 for a Charolais. Fat heifers sold from £1,135 to £1,280 for cattle weighing 520kg to 610kg.
Mid-weight heifers sold from £980 to £1,140 for 430kg to 500kg, with lighter cattle below 400kg selling to £930.
Fat cows sold to £2.11/kg or £1,329 for a 630kg animal, with cow heifers selling to £2.09/kg.
Feeding cows sold from £1.40/kg to £1.65/kg, with plainer lots selling from £1.15/kg to £1.37/kg. Fleshed Friesian cows sold from £1/kg to £1.24/kg.
