Trade was red hot in Skibbereen for the annual fatstock show and sale at the west Cork mart. Demand for show-standard breeding heifers helped drive trade to higher levels.
Factory demand for forward and heavy cattle was very evident at the annual fatstock show and sale in Kanturk Mart. Aside from the prizewinners, similar prices were on offer in the general sale.
The Callaghan family from Kilkeel, Co Down, set a new record price of £18,000 at the 2024 RUAS beef and lamb championships with their prize-winning heifer.
Kanturk featured prominently in the national headlines this week and could prove influential in deciding the future leader of the country. The local mart is one step ahead announcing a new manager.
