The 50 acres Glanturkin, Guileen, Whitegate, Co Cork.
The guide on this holding was €400,000 or €8,000/ac when it came to the shelves. On the market since the summer of 2017, initial interest in the farm was relatively slow. This reduced interest was surprising given the quality, but in recent months enquiries and bidding showed signs of picking up.
According to the auctioneer handling the sale, Adrianna Hegarty of Hegarty Properties, the deal closed on 21 November after the highest bid of €380,000 or €7,600/ac was received, considered and accepted.
It is believed that the farm was bought by a farmer as an investment.
The lands at Glanturkin, Guileen, Co Cork, sold for €7,600/ac recently.
The farm
The farm itself is a tillage and grazing farm. Laid out in two fields, half the property is in tillage (barley) with the other half in grass. Besides the good-quality land, the scenic views overlooking the Atlantic Ocean are a great add-on feature of the property.
There is mains water at the gate of the farm, with handling facilities on the premises. The farm was sold without entitlements.
