On a visit to the US in May, the Irish Farmers Journal visited numerous different shops to check out some Irish produce and there was plenty on display.

Guinness Draft from St James Gate, Dublin, was on sale in Whole Foods for $8.99 (approximately €8.25) for a pack of four 14.9fl oz (440ml) cans.

In Ireland, the cans would be 500ml in size and retail for about €9 (approximately $9.81).

There was an impressive amount of whiskey on display in the same shop which included:

  • Tullamore Dew - $23.99.
  • Pearse Lyons Whiskey - $39.99.
  • Slane Distillery Whiskey - $28.49.
  • Jameson Whiskey – Orange $32.99, Triple Distilled $32.99 and Cold Brew $25.99.
  • Proper No. Twelve - $24.99.

    • The Irish whiskey was in prime shelf position in the consumers' eyeline on the middle and high shelves.

    In Walmart, which is considered a good value store with good-quality products, we saw the following Irish whiskeys and Irish cream liqueur:

  • Bushmills whiskey, Red Bush, $35.
  • Jameson Triple Distilled $23.98, $57.98.
  • Jameson Black Barrell - $37.98.
  • Jameson Orange - $23.98.
  • Tullamore Dew - $23.98.
  • Proper Twelve - $24.98.
  • Proper Twelve Irish Apple - $24.98.
  • Baileys – $25.73 750ml.
  • Baileys Minis - $8.98 for a three pack of 100ml each.
