Finnish brand, Valio, has signed a lactose free milk powder deal with Australia

Under the terms of a new deal, New South Wales MPD Dairy Products will distribute Valio Eila lactose free milk powder and Valio HYLA low lactose milk powder in Australia.
MPD Dairy Products, which has adequate warehouse space in Australia, can now distribute the lactose free and low lactose milk powder to various food and beverage makers in the country.
The demand for lactose free and low lactose is growing in Australian and Asian markets and this deal with MPD Dairy Products represents a lucrative opportunity for Valio, who have suffered from the Russian ban on EU products.

Lactose intolerance, the inability to digest a sugar in milk and other dairy products called lactose is thought to be as high as 90% in some Asian countries.
Valio, Finland’s largest dairy company started developing its lactose free dairy as far back as the 1970’s, although its line of lactose free and low lactose dairy products has really taken off in the last ten years.
The powders can be used widely in traditional food and beverage applications but also in applications like weight management, sports nutrition, medical nutrition and others where high nutritional value, high protein and low carbohydrate content is preferred.
