While there will be plenty of dry weather this week, Met Éireann is not forecasting a fully settled period, with heavy showers at times.

This comes as little solace to those who need to get slurry spread by the weekend's deadline.

Showers over the northern half of the country will develop into longer spells of rain on Monday morning and into the afternoon.

The day will be breezy and gusty too, with top temperatures of 13°C to 16°C.

There will be a dry start to Tuesday, with some sunny spells. However, rain, some of it persistent, will affect west Ulster and west Conancht throughout the day. Top temperatures will range from 12°C to 16°C.

There will be further heavy rain on Tuesday night.

A humid and windy start is forecast for Wednesday. More showery weather is expected to develop in all places on Wednesday afternoon. Temperatures will range from 13°C to 16°C, but it is expected to drop to as low as 4°C on Wednesday night.

It will be dry and bright for much of Thursday, especially in the morning.

Cloud will develop during the afternoon and evening and some rain will affect coastal counties. The rain will become more widespread over Thursday night, with fog developing. Top temperatures on Thursday will range from 14°C to 16°C.

Friday will be wet, mild and breezy, with outbreaks of rain in most places. The heaviest rain will be in the west. Top temperatures will range from 15°C to 17°C
