Ballymote Mart saw some quality heifers put forward for its December heifer sale.

Some 227 heifers went under the hammer, with a 92% clearance recorded.

There was a strong mix of top-quality Limosuins and Blue-cross heifers on offer, with the pre-sale show drawing out these quality lots.

Heifers weighing 400kg to 500kg averaged €4.93/kg, with the top third quality-wise averaging €5.68/kg.

Heifers in the 500kg to 600kg weight bracket sold for 29c/kg more of an average at €5.22/kg, with the top third selling to an average of €6.33/kg.

Strong heifers above 600kg averaged €5.21/kg, but it was a show of nine of the top heifers of this weight that really impressed, selling to an average price of €6.82/kg.
