The number of deaths on Scottish farms has dropped from 13 in 2019/2019 to just two in the last 12 months. Marking Farm Safety Week, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) released its report on fatal injuries in agriculture, forestry and fishing in Britain during 2019/20.
NFU Scotland, which has been raising awareness around farm safety, welcomed the latest statistics, but still pointed out that they were “two deaths, too many”. Historically agriculture has a poor record for accidents in the workplace, compared to other sectors.
