If you’re planning a family get-together over the Easter holidays, it’s always good to have a few kid-friendly restaurants in your back pocket.
This Irish Country Living Food-approved round up features restaurants as enjoyable for the adults as they are for the kids.
Each offers consistently great food, a nice atmosphere and, most importantly, friendly (read: patient) service.
1. Matt the Thresher – Co Tipperary

Matt the Thresher, Birdhill, Co Tipperary.
\Hannah Fleur McCarthy
A trip to Birdhill, Co Tipperary always makes for a leisurely Sunday drive, and a promised lunch at Matt the Thresher sweetens the deal for families with kids. What makes this pub such a great spot for a family-friendly lunch or dinner is that it’s upscale enough to feel really special – the kids will want to dress up a bit; the adults will want a glass of wine or a pint with their meal (if they’re not the ones driving), and the food is always fresh and tasty.
Matt’s is a restaurant which does seafood really well and we particularly enjoy their weekend fish specials. Older kids will be happy with their pub-style curries, pastas or burgers while the little ones enjoy generous portions of chips, goujons, pasta and MiWadi on tap.

2. The Strand Cahore – Co Wexford

You can't beat a pizza by the sea, and The Strand Cahore makes an excellent pizza.
Cahore Point beach is one of the prettiest spots on Ireland’s east coast, and an ideal place to take the kids on a coastal day trip this Easter break. Luckily, The Strand Cahore is right there, as well, to provide great food and excellent value for the whole family. Their menu focuses on the plethora of fresh local produce on their doorstop and you’ll see this reflected in menu items like their Cahore seafood chowder, which is fully loaded with locally-sourced seafood. They offer a kid’s menu and tasty ice cream options.
