Forward store cattle carrying flesh were in big demand at Omagh Mart this week. Prices peaked at £1,380 for a 615kg animal. Other lots sold from £1,190 to £1,300.

Heifers suited to a short finishing period sold from £1,090 to £1,195, with lighter types making £800 to £1,030.

Bullocks

Bullocks sold to £1,640 for an 805kg animal, with £1,230 to £1,460 paid on good-quality continental types.

Forward types sold from £1,250 back to £1,150, with mid-weight bullocks selling from £1,045 to £1,155. Lighter types sold from £820 to £930.

Cows

Top-quality beef cows sold from 171p to 182p/kg. Older cows were a solid trade, with prices starting from 160p/kg.

Weanlings

Weanlings were an exceptional trade on Wednesday. Bull calves and bullocks sold to £1,085 for a 445kg animal, with a 395kg animal making £1,025.

Cattle weighing 350kg to 400kg sold from £850 to £1,005, with lighter types making £780 to £890.

Heifers sold from £760 to £980. In-calf heifers sold to £1,740.
