Self-styled weather guru Ken Ring has predicted a dry start to July.

The New Zealander has forecast a period of dry weather to prevail across most of the country for the first week, barring some individual showers.

Following this, humid conditions will lead to showers in some parts, with thundery showers occurring in the southeast of the country.

The southeast will again see wet weather in the middle of the month.

Dry weather will return across much of the country in the third week.

Towards the end of the month, heavy rain will feature, especially in the north and northwest.

Munster and Co Wexford may also see a high level of rainfall.

In other regions, the month will end on a drier, sunnier note.

Sunshine

Ring says the month will begin with variable sunshine levels, with some warm, sunny days likely.

By the third week, it will be cloudy for the most part and in most regions.

However, the last week of July will see the sun return in many regions.

Temperature

Temperatures are set to rise in every region at the beginning of the month due to southerly winds.

The first 11 days will be particularly hot, and will be followed by humid, warm weather in the second week.

Mid-July will see the warm weather continuing, before cooler temperatures return in the third week of the month.

The lower temperatures will continue to the end of the month, with nighttime temperatures particularly low around 31 July.
