Have you any information about a local holy well in north Connemara? If so, Galway County Council and the Heritage Council in partnership with Forum Connemara CLG and Galway IFA want to hear from you.

They need help collecting information about holy wells in the North Connemara area. Some of the questions they have are:

Is there an annual pattern day at the well?

When do people visit the well?

Do you know any stories about the well?

If so, please send your stories, experiences and photos to galwayholywells@gmail.com

The aim is to collect information about each holy well in the county, so that it can be shared for use in community projects and recorded for future generations. The project has been underway over the past three years. The municipal districts of Loughrea, Ballinasloe, Tuam and Athenry have been the focus up to this year.

This information will be shared on Galway Community Heritage websites heritage.galwaycommunityheritage.org. Scan the code to learn more.
