Two new Agrimax tyres unveiled
Agrigear is introducing the new Agrimax Spargo, which is a radial tyre designed for sprayer and row crop applications. Its technology claims to allow for major load capacity at unchanged inflation pressure compared with a standard tyre of the same size.
The tyre features a special lug design and structure for the purpose of reducing soil compaction, in addition to good traction and riding comfort on both the road and in fields. Agrimax Spargo tyre comes in VF 380/90 R46 size.
The new Agrimax FL630 Super radial tyre has been developed for trailers. Its design has been developed to ensure a steady and homogeneous footprint on the land. Agrigear claims that its tread design and construction features make it suitable for multipurpose use on any surface or on the road.
Claas appraises Dromone pick-up
Claas is appraising the new Dromone Linkless roller pick-up hitch for its new Arion 400 series tractors. The Linkless hitch lifts the implement independently of the tractor’s rocker arms / link arms – no link arm movement is required to operate the hitch.
The hitch uses a patented latching and locking mechanism for maximum towing safety. Cable release or hydraulic release options are available. The hitch was shown as part of the new tractor display at the Bad Salgau factory in Germany and Claas confirmed that the hitch was being evaluated for the new range for the Irish and British markets.
British tractor registrations up 4%
British new tractor sales in June were 1.4% up on the equivalent month a year ago, at 1,144 units, according to the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA). This left the half-year total at 6,942, an increase of 4%. The average size of unit sold in the first six months was 151.6hp, which is a 2.6% increase on a year earlier.
The AEA expects that sales will be flat in the second half of the year, based on mixed and uncertain underlying farming conditions.
Tractors off the road and road tax
Following the change in legislation with regard to vehicles off the road introduced last year, a number of machines will be due for renewal in the coming weeks.
At that time, many tractor owners declared their tractors off the road for the maximum period of 12 months.
While the Department of the Environment reports that you will get a renewal notice in the same way as if the tractor was taxed, it is important that this is completed and an extension of 12 months sought before the end of the off the road period.
If you do not renew the RF150 form in the month before the declaration is due to expire, you will have to pay a minimum of three months motor tax, as your application will be considered to be in arrears. This is because all off the road declarations must be made in advance of the taxation period.
This week’s machine of the week on the Irish Farmers Journal’s advertising website www.toplink.ie is this 2001-registration John Deere CTS combine harvester at McCullagh Machinery, Derrylin Road, Bellanaleck, Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh.
