Euro Auctions recently held its end of year auction in Dromore, Co Tyrone, with the hammer falling on almost 1,100 lots of used industrial plant, construction and agricultural equipment over the two-day event, achieving a total hammer price of over £2.8m (€3.3m).

More than 700 bidders made their way to the auction from all over Ireland and the UK. There was also a good spread of people from right across Europe, as well as a strong representation from North America who acquired 5% of the total equipment sold.

Over the two days, a total of 280 buyers made successful final bids, with Ireland and the UK taking the top slots in terms of bidders and buyers.

There was also a good proportion of first-time bidders, of which over half placed successful bids.

Fantastic year

“2016 has been a fantastic year for Euro Auctions around the globe as confidence within the farming and construction sectors returns and many of our customers look to update and replace their plant portfolios to meet the growing contract and operational requirements,” said Jonnie Keys, operations manager for Euro Auctions’ global activities.

“We delivered over 30 auctions at our established sites around the globe and also conducted a number of special one-day auctions. 2017 has seen over 70,000 individual pieces of plant and equipment, collectively worth approaching £300m (€358m) being sold under the hammer.”

Keys concluded: “Demand for used agricultural and construction equipment is exceptionally high at the moment and good-quality, well-presented plant always commands a premium. The particularly strong euro and dollar at the moment also makes everything we sell that little bit more attractive and affordable for overseas customers, and we are increasingly shipping consignments around the globe to the markets where they are most in demand.”
