The recent British Limousin Cattle Society sale held at Dungannon Mart saw a 100% clearance for bulls along with averages up by £285 to £2,987.

Taking the top price of 5,000gns was Drumagarner Luke bred by E McCloskey, Kilrea, Coleraine, and owned and exhibited by Barney O’Kane & Son. This August 2015-born bull was also named overall champion in the pre-sale show by judge George Conway, Plumbridge, Omagh.

Luke is sired by Ampertaine Gigolo, a bull that needs no introduction, having bred the world record price holder Trueman Jagger. Next highest at 3,600gns was Lynderg Lancaster, a homebred bull by NI Limousin Club president Jim Quail, Banbridge.

This May 2015-born bull is sired by Lynderg Hero and is out of homebred dam Lynderg Ethel. A first prize winner in his class and intermediate champion, he now heads to new owner Daniel Harrison, Annalong, Co Down.

Loosebeare Fantastic son Ballyhone Leon realised 3,500gns for breeder Brian Hall, Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.

Meanwhile, judge Conway awarded the reserve overall supreme champion title to Slieve Lord, homebred by father and son John and Shane McGeehan, Fivemiletown, Co Tyrone.

His sire Slieve Intostyle has Ampertaine Commander and Elite Bearl in his pedigree. Slieve Lord made 3,200gns and was bought by Martin Meehan, Portaferry, Co Down.

Females presented at the show and sale were young and the top price at 1,700 gns went to Quinliz Lorna bred by Roger Quinn, Swatragh, Co Derry. This June 2015 daughter won female champion in the show and is sired by Ampertaine Foreman.

The reserve female champion title was won by KillyDun Lara bred by the Quinn brothers, Kilrea, Co Derry. This May 2015 heifer is a Mas Du Clo daughter.
