I hear European Commissioner Phil Hogan requested a special meeting with Teagasc in Moorepark, Co Cork last Friday and didn’t go lightly on them. He banged heads among the Teagasc elite that the body wasn’t doing enough to tackle climate change and greenhouse gas emissions. This is something he hears regularly in Brussels. He also took aim at the BDGP saying that the suckler, scheme doesn’t go far enough to addressing climate issues. He had met the Irish Charolais Society the day before. The society has had a long dislike of the BDGP but I’m sure the two aren’t related, at all, in any way.
