John Dalton of Daltons, Co Kilkenny, is the new president of the Irish Seed Trade Association (ISTA). He takes over from Tom Bryan of Boortmalt and will serve a two-year term as ISTA president. He is managing director of John Dalton & Sons Ltd, Chancellors Mills, for over 25 year, and is a former president of Irish Grain and Feed Association (IGFA). He remains a committee member of IGFA. He is also a board member of the Cereal Association of Ireland. Jim Gibbons of Germinal Seeds is the new vice president. I’m told that Professor of Agriculture and Food Economics at UCD Alan Renwick is soon to leave these shores to take up a professorship position at Lincoln University in New Zealand. Renwick had strong views on the CAP and the need to move towards a more market-orientated agriculture system.
