I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all who offered their sympathy and support following the recent passing of John O’Reilly, former agribusiness editor of the Irish Farmers Journal and senior analyst with Davy Stockbrokers.
I am very grateful to all those who attended John’s funeral (in person and via webcam), several of whom travelled long distances to be present.

I have also been touched by the many tributes, cards, condolences and letters that I have received following John’s passing. I particularly wish to acknowledge the two moving tributes to John written by Matt Dempsey and the former Irish Farmers Journal agribusiness editors, respectively, which were published in the Irish Farmers Journal on 23 August 2025.
Thank you for remembering John so fondly and for highlighting his impact on the agribusiness sector in Ireland during his career – he would have been very proud.
