All categories of livestock are contributing to the 29% increase in exports, with weanling exports rising by over 90% and calf exports running over 13% higher.
The animal health focus this week discusses the basics of calf rearing and inexpensive early animal health management issues that all farmers should refresh themselves on.
Spain is the top performer, with exports running 140% higher, while exports to Northern Ireland are 34% higher year-on-year and 53% higher to the Italian market.
There were over 2,300 more cattle exported to Spain in January 2024, while exports to Italy increased by 800 head and exports to Northern Ireland rose by over 400 head.
