Elphin mart has built up a strong reputation for quality cattle over the years and its annual spring show and sale of heifers attracts buyers from all over Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK.
Unfortunately, due to the fallout surrounding Brexit, UK customers aren't able to purchase cattle at this year’s sale.

Historically these customers were especially active for the top-quality lots and it will be interesting to see if their absence has any impact on trade.
Speaking to the Irish Farmers Journal, mart manager Gerry Connellan said: “There are some serious quality heifers in the yard, some of the best I have ever seen. We’re hoping for a good trade.
"We’ve had a lot of enquiries over the last few days, especially for breeders”.
