When buying a new spreader, it is necessary to assess what level of technology can be justified for your operation.
Some of the key technologies available in modern fertiliser spreaders will be the topic of discussion at the 2019 Crops & Spreaders open day next Wednesday 26 June at Oak Park, Co Carlow.
There will be live fertiliser spreader demonstrations, which aim to showcase some of these technologies.
The discussions and demonstrations aim to inform farmers about these technologies and whether they will get the full benefit from them in their own systems.
These technologies will include weighing systems, headland management and GPS systems.

The 2019 Crops & Spreaders open day will be held by Teagasc in association with the Irish Farmers Journal.
The event will this year focus on the even and accurate spreading of fertiliser.
The event will provide an opportunity to view demonstrations from the Teagasc crops research programme at the Oak Park campus from 11am to 6pm on the day.
