McDonald’s corporation, one of the world’s largest beef buyers has filed a 100-page legal action against the top four beef processors in a US court last week. They accuse Cargill, JBS USA, Tyson Foods, and National Beef of conspiring to “fix, raise, stabilise and/or maintain the price of beef” at “prices artificially higher than beef prices would have been in the absence of their conspiracy.” It is alleged that this has been going on since at least 1 January 2015 and continues to the present day.
