This week the Focus features news, research snippets and advice for farmers that is flowing through what Teagasc call the Signpost Programme.

Teagasc’s Siobhán Kavanagh has compiled what she thinks is the key information farmers need to know to help them achieve the greenhouse gas emission reductions outlined in last week’s Climate Action Plan.

We have to be thankful to the 100 or so farmers who are piloting the various scientific innovations that will help enhance and improve the sustainability of Irish food. Indeed, many of the farmer features highlight old science such as incorporating clover, using protected urea, or acting on soil sample results. Teagasc is ramping up a team of divisional advisers to drive change.
