The tragic news of the untimely accidental death of Philip Reck rocked the tillage world and his local community in Wexford earlier this week.
Philip was a well-known employee of the Cooney Furlong Grain Company and was highly respected in tillage circles across the island.
His loss will be deeply felt by colleagues in the company where his professionalism and organisational skills were important to the running of the farm and the business. He was well known nationally as a pioneer and driver of catch crop production, and placed huge emphasis on the health of soils.
The Cooney Furlong Grain Company described him as a “committed and valued member of the team who worked with us for 18 years”.
His colleagues in BASE Ireland remembered “Philip’s great legacy in bringing change to farming” and his ultimate belief in the concept of “farmers educating farmers”.
He will be sadly missed by his partner Martina, his two daughters, mother and brothers, and by the local community in Courtnacuddy.
Philip was laid to rest on Wednesday of this week. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
