Ingredients
200ml buttermilk150g breadcrumbs1 clove garlic, finely chopped2 tsp Worcestershire sauce1 Tbsp Dijon (or English) mustard1 egg1 tsp dried oregano2 tsp salt1 tsp black pepper500g minced beefPasta and tomato sauce, to serveDirections
1. Preheat your oven to 200°C and line a baking tray with parchment paper. Set aside.
2. In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, egg, garlic, Worcestershire sauce and mustard. In another bowl, add the breadcrumbs, salt, pepper and oregano. Mix the wet ingredients well and pour over the breadcrumbs. Stir to combine and let soak for 10 minutes.
3. Add the minced beef to the soaked breadcrumbs and mix well.
4. Roll the meat mixture into balls (keep them roughly the same size so they take the same amount of time to cook) and place them on the lined baking tray.
5. Bake in the hot oven for 20 to 25 minutes, until completely cooked through. They can then be added to tomato sauce or served with mashed potatoes.
